Homeslice Wheelhouse, Somerset, & Wurst Music and Beer Fest 9/8/17
Summer is winding down, but that doesn't mean the fun has to stop! Here are a few great places to head to this week for some great pizza, great food, and great beer! Catch my entire 101-WKQX segment by clicking HERE!
Homeslice Wheelhouse
I've loved the All-American bravado of the Homeslice menu since they first opened a few years ago. But the venue in and of itself is also one of Lincoln Park's most funky and hip hangout spots. It's a great neighborhood go-to with an extensive menu and great drinks. One of my favorite pizzas on the menu is the Smoke Show (love that name). It's got blackened chicken, fresh jalapeños, cream cheese, mozzarella, provolone, garlic, and olive oil.
Patio hanging is always every Chicagoan's favorite pastime; but it's a major bummer when winter comes and we're all forced inside to hibernate like bears. But fear not Home-slicers... their patio and their trailer/camper is a place to party YEAR-ROUND! Plus... if you're a big bruncher (and who isn't) they have some choice brunch items like a breakfast calzone, or green eggs and pie, AND bloody marys garnished with a slice of (you guessed it) pizza! OMG can the weekend get here already?!

Somerset
The long awaited new hot spot from BOKA Restaurant Group is finally here! The new Viceroy hotel (the full renovation of the historic (and seedy) Cedar Hotel, boasts a sight for sore eyes...Somerset. It's beautiful and reminiscent of a late 60's era all-American yacht club vibe. It's casual-chic and seems to have something on the menu for everyone. Plus one of my favorite Chicago chefs, Lee Wolen, is the captain of this ship. The fried chicken basket looks bomb, the drinks look killer, and they even preserved the original Cedar Hotel neon... oh and did I mention it's actually in the old Melvin B's space?!?! Ah Memories....
